Sleep/Storage Box
The sleepbox was commissioned for a loft space in Center City, Philadelphia. While designed as a piece of furniture, it acts as an architectural element providing both spatial organization to the open plan and functional distinction to sleeping, living, and storage spaces.
The client sought a demountable solution that would provide more privacy than offered by the existing open plan. The box creates a hallway between the living space and the entry, and establishes a discreet dressing room adjacent to the existing bath and shower. The bed is raised and removed from every day view.
